What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Atlanta is home to more than 200,000 children living in poverty. Pre-school age children living in poverty often lack safe environments, quality education, proper nutrition, and consistent, loving care while parents are at work. These children face a future in which they are: • 25% more likely to drop out of school • 40% more likely to become a teenage parent • 70% more likely to be convicted of a violent crime

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Tuition free pre-schools

Every day Feed My Lambs has the honor and privilege to be invited into the space called childhood for many children who might otherwise be lonely, sad, hungry or in danger. Our classrooms offer safe havens of comfort and enrichment to these students. Our staff of qualified preschool teachers offer training that meets the children where they are, as many of our students are below expected levels for their age. They need a safe place to experience success and develop a love of learning and classroom structures. Feed My Lambs always gives that. There is no pressure to perform and no impression of failure at any time.
Early childhood development is well understood in our time and we believe children must be able to develop as God intended. They cannot walk before they crawl. They cannot write before they develop their large muscles at an easel. There is a natural order to how they properly develop to be ready for desk work in Kindergarten. Nurturing this process is very important at Feed My Lambs. Our curriculum, Wee Learn, is a whole language, learning center approach to teaching children through active learning and involving as many sensory experiences as possible. Our units are thematic in nature and we create this world for the children to immerse themselves in so they fully engage in the subject being studied. They get to experience what they learn.
Preschool versions of Bible verses are memorized by our students. They learn the Armor of God and how to pray. We teach the Fruit of the Spirit. While most adults can teach ABCs and 123s, Feed My Lambs believes our most important mandate is to teach our students about the Lord. Combining all the areas God put in humans…mental, social, emotional, physical and SPIRITUAL. Children are naturally drawn to the Lord. It touches the heart to see them automatically pray over someone who is sick. "A little child shall lead them…." Isaiah 11:6
We also feed our students two nutritious meals per day because healthy bodies lead to healthy minds. Jesus is passionate about the children. He loves them and so do we.

Our tuition-free preschool serves 24 children living below the poverty level in Austell, GA

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The heart of Feed My Lambs is to impact children living in poverty with the love of Jesus through Christian preschools. Our schools offer an invaluable early education to our families at no charge. We are funded solely by our amazing donors, partners, advocates, and other supporters.

Our Metro Atlanta Schools:

Atlanta: City of Refuge Campus - 63 Children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old
Austell: Orange Hill Baptist Campus - 24 Children ages 3 to 4 years old
Austell: Love Street Campus – 46 Children ages 3 to 4 years old

• For over 25 years, Feed My Lambs has been a safe haven of comfort and enrichment for children living in poverty in the Metro-Atlanta area.

• Feed My Lambs changes the future for at-risk children and the city of Atlanta. Research indicates that every dollar spent on preschool programs yields a $16 return on investment by saving government spending on public assistance programs and the criminal justice system.

• Women in City of Refuge's homeless shelter receive free quality Christian childcare year round at Feed My Lambs, while they work to rebuild their lives.

• Children at Feed My Lambs learn preschool appropriate versions of bible verses that are integrated into the curriculum. They are also taught to pray. We believe that teaching and showing the love of Jesus in this way plants seeds that they will carry home to their families and hold in their growing hearts and minds for the rest of their lives.
